Carousel template: a step-by-step how-to in seven slides

A how-to carousel works when every slide earns the swipe. One step per slide, a clear promise on the cover, and a recap at the end that people save.

Use this template when

  • You're explaining a process with four to six steps.
  • Each step can be said in one sentence plus a short example.
  • The result is something readers want to save.

The template

Replace each bracket with your own material. Delete any line that doesn't fit your story.

Fill-in template
Slide 1 (cover): [The result, stated as a promise. E.g. “Write a weekly update in 10 minutes.”]
Slide 2: [Why most people struggle with this. One line.]
Slide 3: Step 1: [Action] + [short example]
Slide 4: Step 2: [Action] + [short example]
Slide 5: Step 3: [Action] + [short example]
Slide 6: Step 4: [Action] + [short example]

A completed example

Example
Slide 1: Write a weekly update your manager actually reads. 10 minutes.
Slide 2: Most updates list tasks. Managers want decisions and risks.
Slide 3: Step 1: Lead with one outcome. “Shipped the billing fix; refunds dropped to zero.”
Slide 4: Step 2: Name one risk. “The API migration may slip a week. Waiting on security review.”
Slide 5: Step 3: Ask for one thing. “Need a decision on the Q4 pricing test by Thursday.”
Slide 6: Step 4: Everything else goes in a short list at the bottom.
Slide 7: Outcome → Risk → Ask → List. Save this for Friday.

Caption: I've read about 2,000 weekly updates as a manager. The good ones all follow the same four-part shape. What would you add?

Each slide has one idea and one example. The recap slide is the one people save and share.

Tips

  • Keep each slide to about 25 words.
  • Use the same layout for every step so the eye knows where to look.
  • Make the recap slide readable on its own.

The example names, companies, and numbers are illustrative.
